Since the project’s launch, UNDERPIN, represented by Fresh Thoughts Consulting, was present at the Baltic Region Forum as part of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change in November 2025. Through the event, UNDERPIN had the opportunity to exchange with other Mission projects as well as EU representatives.
Here are some key takeaways UNDERPIN brought back from this event and how the project might address them:
- Create opportunities from risks and threats: Worsening climate impacts are daunting for European decisionmakers. UNDERPIN sees potential through improving how we measure adaptation progress, understand effectiveness of policies and actions, and improve the response of European communities, locally, nationally, and EU wide.
- Local creativity and solutions are key for success: UNDERPIN will engage four use case regions via co-creation processes, ensuring our outcome indicator framework and dashboard, fed with diverse data sources, reflects local needs and experiences
- Aligning resilience work with security and preparedness: UNDERPIN can support European regions, already tackling compounding geopolitical and climate threats, with enhanced measurement and visualization tools to feel better equipped.
- Tell stories to broad audiences with a focus on science and visual communication: UNDERPIN’s work affects EU policymakers, scientists and adaptation practitioners, local and regional decisionmakers, and even vulnerable communities across the continent. We will creatively engage all actors in the up-to-date science, policy, and technology through interviews, infographics, events, and more.
Look out for us at future Mission Adaptation events!
